β€œA Jackie shawn moment”

PURPOSE

Representation. I enjoy building worlds for authentic, human relationships to explore complex journeys. My inspiration comes from my love of watching Girlfriends, Moesha, Insecure, and Being Mary Jane because stories where black women are the center of the world have always been my passion. Hence, why I started producing stories through my company, Queens World, each moment in this portfolio is a part of a larger universe. My goal is to work in television.

style

I believe each scene in a series can function like a note on the staff. And each episode is a song in an album. I explore transitions that feel like musical bridges between scenes. I want moments where the energy rises like a chorus and moments where the stillness feels like a verse settling. I am especially inspired by the idea of oners and how they can carry emotion without cutting away. A single long take can serve as a transition that guides the audience from one emotional beat to another, the same way a DJ blends two tracks together.

MY GARDEN

Each project is a stepping stone to a world I’ve created.

  • A young fashionista, Kennedy, battles to live up to her mother's legendary shadow. While competing to redefine her own legacy in the fashion world.

A drama short film that comments on the trauma passed down over generations of black women. This stylized tale centers on the legacy of fashion. What does it mean to pass down your legacy, and how do we handle the pressure of it all?

    Series Concept:

When rising fashion prodigy Kennedy is boxed into recreating her mother Naomi’s legendary image, each episode forces her to confront a moment from Naomi’s past that resurfaces through fashion, reputation, and expectation. As Kennedy battles to build her own legacy, fashion becomes the language for difficult conversations she was never allowed to have. The series culminates in Kennedy finally breaking the cycle. Telling her mother, through her work, β€œRemember I am not you.”

  • A group of four college girls are the only black people in this dystopian world. As they prepare for their dreams in the real world, they uncover a new secret. Jocelyn starts to have visions of a girl just like them. They embark on an unexpected journey to their childhood orphanage to save one of their own.

A thriller story that comments on the use of Black bodies as test subjects- a history that has been hidden until recently. The project's goal is to raise public awareness about untold stories of African American history and encourage others from all backgrounds to research and educate themselves.

    Series Concept:

When four Black college girlsβ€”the only ones left in a dystopian societyβ€”begin finding one missing survivor each episode, they uncover a hidden system of experiments conducted on Black bodies. Guided by one girl’s visions, their search leads back to the orphanage that raised them. The season culminates in the exposure of a powerful, family-owned corporation responsible for the massacre.

  • When a young woman introduces her boyfriend to her wealthy parents for the first time, a seemingly intimate dinner exposes the unspoken class divide between them, forcing her partner to confront the shame surrounding where he comes from before it costs him the woman he loves.

And After is about the quiet ways shame shows up in Black relationships. As Black people, we are not a monolithβ€”we come from different socioeconomic backgrounds, and those differences can create insecurity, resentment, and fear on both sides. Sometimes we don’t fully understand where someone comes from, and that lack of understanding shapes how we judge them, love them, or push them away. This story exists to explore how class, pride, and survival intersect with love. Healing begins when we stop hiding our truths.

    Series Concept:

And After expands into a character-driven Netflix-style limited series that follows Tiffany as she slowly uncovers the truth about JayQuan’s past after their relationship fractures. Each episode reveals a different layer of JayQuan’s upbringing. From housing insecurity and family pressure to masculinity, pride, and the expectations placed on Black men to β€œmeasure up.” As Tiffany learns more about where JayQuan actually comes from, she’s forced to examine her own privilege, assumptions, and what love truly requires. The series explores Black class dynamics with intimacy and honesty, showing how love doesn’t end at the conflict; it begins after the truth is revealed.

    Series Concept:

A music-driven narrative series using song as a bridge for difficult conversations between Black women. In the pilot, Gina witnesses her sister’s abuse by a potential suitor and must confront her silence as the sisters struggle to rebuild trust. Through music, memory, and movement, they find their way back to each other. Each episode centers on a different Black woman’s story, using music as the language of healing.

  • After 5 years, Grace finally has a day off from work and unexpectedly opens the door to a lifetime of unconditional love.

This is inspired by how my parents met β€” a story I’ve heard since childhood. It’s simple, beautiful, and unforgettable. I wanted to explore how a brief connection sparked a lifetime of love. My parents have a huge age gap of 20+ years, and I would like to explore those dynamics. They got married 30 days after this film.

    Series Concept:

A single day off becomes the beginning of forever when Grace meets Malcolmβ€”an unexpected love told through two perspectives, tracing a 30-day marriage, a 20-year age gap, and the leap that carries one family from Houston to Nigeria.
